Thank you to everyone who helped. Your hard work paid off. On May 31, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors adopted an intent motion and set the revised Swainsons Hawk fee mitigation ordinance for adoption on June 7 to take effect 30 days from the date of adoption. Chair Roger Dickinson, Illa Collin and Don Nottoli played leadership roles in moving the ordinance forward.

The ordinance requires those mitigating using the fee ordinance to provide 1:1 mitigation, land dedication for all projects 40 acres or larger reserving the fee only option only for projects of less than 40 acres. For more details, see: http://webagendas.saccounty.net/AgendaDetail.asp?Dir=20050531Tuesday&Date=05/31/2005&Type=Tuesday

Projects in the pipeline will only be able to mitigate using the new ordinance if they elect the fee option.

The May 31 version of the ordinance is somewhat different than the original staff proposal but substantially upgrades the very deficient program that was being used. Knowledgeable staff person at County Planning is John Lundgren.

Unresolved issues to come back to the Board include exemptions to help small property owners and potential to mitigate in Yolo County.
