Please Take Action Today to Protect Endangered Species
The Sacramento International Airport owns thousands of acres of airport buffer land in North Natomas that are home to Swainson's Hawks and other threatened species. These buffer lands lie outside the airport fence and are used for farming. They buffer airport use from urban encroachment and provide important habitat for wildlife. Recently County of Sacramento personnel destroyed important Swainson's Hawk nesting trees and filled wetlands.

Sample letter:
Dear Supervisors,
Airport personnel have done direct and substantial harm to threatened species and other wildlife in the airport buffer lands around the airport. Please require that the airport fully mitigate to the maximum extent possible for the harm that has been done. The airport should compensate the threatened species with permanent protection of habitat lands, and remove fill and complete full restoration of wetlands that have been filled.
I am particularly concerned that nesting trees for Swainson's hawks that were removed have not been replaced. Please ensure that airport buffer lands are a safe and permanent home for Swainson's Hawks.
