To help threatened wildlife in Sacramento County, study the issues and
become active in your local government. We have many pressing issues because
development is always being proposed for sensitive wildlife areas now zoned for ag, and because
CEQA mitigation for Swainson's Hawk foraging habitat in Sacramento and Yolo
Counties and elsewhere is inadequate. Today's action items are:

• City of Sacramento, Natomas:
Widen the buffer at Fisherman's Lake
Galt: Learn more about a proposal to develop a key habitat
area north and west of the City of Galt
Elk Grove: Elk Grove recently adopted a new and much improved
mitigation program for Swainson's Hawk. It still has a problem
with buying land to mitigate for the development impacts to date.
