Friends of the Swainson's Hawk was invited to visit River Ranch in Yolo County on May 19, 2007. Steve Morgan, CEO of Wildlands, led a tour for us and our guests. They have established Swainson's Hawk mitigation along with mitigation lands for other threatened and endangered species at this very special place in Yolo County, just west of the Cross Canal (which marks the northern boundary of the Natomas Basin). Steve Morgan, below, describes the ranch. Included in the visit were biologists Melinda Dorin and Michael Bradbury, two members of the Woodland High School Swainson's Hawk Monitoring Team, Board Member Kevin McRae and his two sons, Ian and Aaron, Jim Pachl, legal counsel to FOSH, and FOSH president Judith Lamare.
